Franchisee Community Involvement

Giving Back

Whether you’re an independent entrepreneur or a member of a franchise system, it is important that you remain an active player within your community. Small business isn’t just about selling your product or service (it never has been!) — it’s also about immersing yourself within the community that you serve, to the point that you become an inseparable, irreplaceable part of the collective whole.

Here are a few ways to start establishing a community presence:

  1. Attend public events. Whether it be an event for local business owners or the annual town parade, be there. Mingle. Get to know the people in your community. Once you’ve gotten comfortable, you might consider taking your involvement one step further by actively contributing your time or expertise to a local cause.
  2. Hold an open house. Plan a barbecue or an open house at your place of business. Allow non-customers to come out and try your products or services for free or at a reduced cost. Become a true community ambassador by embracing those that live in your local area.
  3. Dedicate yourself to a cause that you hold near and dear to your heart. Weed Man franchise owners feel strongly about enhancing the outdoor environment. As a result, many individuals in our network volunteer their time or services to events that are dedicated to beautifying local green spaces. Take a similar approach by participating in (or spearheading!) community events that are meaningful to you and your company’s mission.
  4. Take a one-on-one approach. Form bonds with your neighbors and customers outside of a work environment. Get to know the people who have made your business a success and assist them in accomplishing their own community improvement goals.

Success comes in many forms. Often, giving back to the community on a personal level or through your business is one of the greatest successes of all.  Start establishing a strong community presence by immersing yourself in local events and getting involved with meaningful, fulfilling projects.

In 2006, they came across Weed Man and upon conducting their due diligence, they were impressed with the company’s business model and support it provided to franchise owners. The Top 5 Ways to Get Customers to Love Your Business

happy-customers

Building relationships with customers is a fundamental aspect of being a business owner – quite simply, you can’t run a business without clients. But what does it take to retain customers and build brand loyalty? Let’s take a look at the top 5 ways to get customers to love your business:

  1. Be Honest. All too often, business owners promise their customers the world and aren’t able to deliver when push comes to shove. If you’re looking to build lasting relationships based upon a culture of trust, then don’t make promises you can’t – or don’t intend to – keep. Foster a culture of honesty within your business by keeping communication clear, concise, and, above all, truthful.
  1. Listen to What Your Customers Have to Say…and Respond! While it is true that the majority of individuals only speak out when they’re unhappy, don’t let this deter you from listening to valuable feedback. If you’re confronted by an unhappy customer – whether through an online review site, via email, or on the phone – always be sure to listen and respond. Avoid becoming aggressive or confrontational. Often, a simple apology will do the trick and can convince an angry customer on the verge of severing ties with your business to stay with you for the long haul.
  1. Customer Service, Customer Service, Customer Service. Should we repeat that one more time? Nothing will help you improve retention more than enhancing the service you provide to customers. There really isn’t much that makes people happier than top-of-the-line support – especially in a day and age where it has become such a rarity. The key, however, is delivering the best service not just once, but time and time again. If you truly want to impress your customers and keep them with you for years to come, then you must consistently train your frontline staff to be friendly, enthusiastic representatives of your business.
  1. Say Thanks. If you have customers who have been with you for an extended period of time, don’t forget to say thanks! A small discount, priority booking, or extra reward points can go a long way. You want to show your clients that they are more than just a number and that you appreciate their patronage.
  1. Rise Above the Competition. Customers have many choices when purchasing a product or service. What makes you different? What makes you better? Don’t strive to be just another brand in today’s competitive market. Embrace your differences and make them public. If you offer a superior product, tell the world! If you offer a tool to make customers’ lives easier, communicate this to them each and every chance you get.

Getting customers to love your business isn’t as difficult as you may think. Sometimes all it takes is honesty, open communication, and tried and true customer service.

Top 10 Tips for Running a Successful Business

Fran Dev Blog.jpg

Have a vision. Most entrepreneurs have a vision prior to just up and starting a business, whether it a passion for something or a dream of leaving a legacy for their children. In order to be successful as a business owner, you must have a vision for your business and for your future.

Believe in what you’re selling. So many people make the mistake of starting a business that they’re not passionate about. If you don’t believe in what you’re selling, your customers won’t believe it in either. Love what you do and live what you love.

Focus on finding the right talent for your company. Finding star talent can be difficult, but if you put in the leg work now, it will pay off in the future. Remember, quality is better than quantity. Take the time to find great employees, rather than struggling with employee retention down the road.

Take the time to train your employees. Once you’ve started building your team, don’t forget to train, train, train. Knowledge is power and if your employees are confident in their role, customers will notice and be more confident in what they are buying. Don’t forget to motivate your staff as well. Keep the morale high by offering positive feedback, incentives and even promotions!

Take care of yourself. Being the business owner, it is imperative that you keep yourself and your family happy and healthy. Exercise, eat right and spend time with your family and friends. Encouraging your employees to do the same will benefit not only themselves, but your company as a whole.

Network. It is so important to network within your community, with customers, potential customers and even possible business partners. Keep an open mind and make a great reputation for yourself and your company. Not only will it look good on you, but it will also help business.

Put yourself in your customers’ shoes. Offering great customer service is imperative to running a successful business. If a customer has a complaint, suggestion and/or concern – listen to them, help them and put yourself in their shoes to really better the situation.

Be creative. Marketing plays a large role in the success of any business. Be creative with your efforts and utilize as many avenues as possible – social media, Internet, print, radio, public outreach, community events – you won’t know if it works until you try!

Be consistent and realistic. Remember, starting your own business is not a get-rich-quick solution. Building a successful business takes time. Be consistent with your efforts and realistic with your vision for the future.

Franchise. Franchising is a great alternative to starting your own business from the ground up. Weed Man knows our competition and we know how to excel in the green industry. We have been doing what we do for over 45 years, have a great reputation, a diverse skill set and a business model that has been practised and proven to be effective.

Why to Invest in a Franchise

Franchising is in a class all of its own. Many people overlook franchise opportunities because they assume they won’t be in charge of their own business, but Weed Man franchisees are a great testament to how effective franchising is and how it can change someone’s life.

We have many Success Stories to tell. In fact, you can find our latest, written on Weed Man Fresno owner Jeff Kollenkark right here. Many other satisfied franchisees’ testimonials can be found on our website as well!

People typically will go into business for themselves because they get to call the shots and be their own boss, enjoy the convenience of having a flexible schedule, provide jobs within their communities and build a legacy for their family. With franchising, all of these things can be accomplished – you’re just not doing it alone. Here’s Why to Invest in a Franchise.

  1. An incredibly knowledgeable support system. The Weed Man family is made up of industry professionals who have decades of experience in lawn care or other related industries, such as landscaping and pest control.
  2. You don’t have to start from scratch. Weed Man was established over 45 years ago. Our systems have been practised, proven and improved over the years.
  3. New to entrepreneurship? We provide extensive 10-day training at our corporate office for all new Weed Man franchisees.
  4. With a proven business model and extensive business plan, Weed Man franchises are more likely to gain financing from financial institutions, as opposed to start-ups.
  5. Purchasing power. Need we say more?
  6. Weed Man has secured over $140 million in system sales, due to our franchisees’ hard work and commitment to the brand – numbers don’t lie!
  7. Lastly, Weed Man has an amazing reputation in the green industry, and more specifically in the franchising side of things. Recently, yet again, Weed Man made Entrepreneur’s Top 10 List. Weed Man has also been ranked by Forbes as One of the Best Franchises to Buy.
