Franchisee Community Involvement

Giving Back

Whether you’re an independent entrepreneur or a member of a franchise system, it is important that you remain an active player within your community. Small business isn’t just about selling your product or service (it never has been!) — it’s also about immersing yourself within the community that you serve, to the point that you become an inseparable, irreplaceable part of the collective whole.

Here are a few ways to start establishing a community presence:

  1. Attend public events. Whether it be an event for local business owners or the annual town parade, be there. Mingle. Get to know the people in your community. Once you’ve gotten comfortable, you might consider taking your involvement one step further by actively contributing your time or expertise to a local cause.
  2. Hold an open house. Plan a barbecue or an open house at your place of business. Allow non-customers to come out and try your products or services for free or at a reduced cost. Become a true community ambassador by embracing those that live in your local area.
  3. Dedicate yourself to a cause that you hold near and dear to your heart. Weed Man franchise owners feel strongly about enhancing the outdoor environment. As a result, many individuals in our network volunteer their time or services to events that are dedicated to beautifying local green spaces. Take a similar approach by participating in (or spearheading!) community events that are meaningful to you and your company’s mission.
  4. Take a one-on-one approach. Form bonds with your neighbors and customers outside of a work environment. Get to know the people who have made your business a success and assist them in accomplishing their own community improvement goals.

Success comes in many forms. Often, giving back to the community on a personal level or through your business is one of the greatest successes of all.  Start establishing a strong community presence by immersing yourself in local events and getting involved with meaningful, fulfilling projects.

Why Is Branding So Important?

Weed Man Branding.jpg

As a current business owner (or prospective business owner!), have you considered the many different ways branding can impact how you are viewed in the marketplace?

Company branding involves far more than just a snazzy logo. It encapsulates who you are and how the world views your business.  If you don’t continuously work to build and solidify your brand as trustworthy and capable, you won’t be able to attract new customers, hire the right employees, or grow your revenue.

Below is a list of several items that should be considered when focusing in on your business’s brand:

  • Your mission statement. Your company’s mission statement is your reason for being and will help tell your brand’s story. The right mission statement can build credibility right off the bat, helping you edge out your competition.
  • Company values. Your values say a lot about who you are, especially when you put them into practice. If you pride your company on being open and honest, put that into writing and be sure to walk the walk. This will help you build the right kind of reputation and, as a result, positive brand associations.
  • Brand colors. Distinct brand colors help separate your business from the competition. It’s nearly impossible to compare apples to apples when looking at a company with flourescent/neon hues versus one that features classic colors, as each tells its own story and may attract very different types of consumers.
  • Uniforms. Imagine someone showed up at your doorstep to provide a service and wasn’t wearing any branded items. Not only does this come across as sloppy, it also creates a level of distrust between the company and the end customer.
  • Marketing strategy. How you market can definitely impact the way people see your brand. If you include telemarketing in your marketing efforts but don’t respect the laws pertaining to it, your business will quickly lose favor with the public.
  • Marketing materials. When it comes to your materials, you’ll want to ensure consistent design that features your colors, logos and contact information. Changing up the look and feel of your collateral on a regular basis will cause brand confusion and

When entrepreneurs invest in a Weed Man franchise, they are not only investing in a company, but in a brand that is backed by 47 years of success. Find out more by calling 1-888-321-9333 today!

The Importance of Networking

networking

Networking is a buzzword that spans across all industries, and one that you’ve likely heard so many times that it’s beginning to lose all meaning.

If you’ve forgotten what networking really means and why it’s important for you and/or your business, let’s get back to basics. Networking is all about interacting with like-minded individuals. It’s often used as a tool to build contacts, learn from others who have a specific set of skills, or to advance one’s career.

Now that we’ve covered what networking means, let’s get to why you should be doing it on a regular basis:

  1. It’s often inexpensive (and sometimes free!).
  2. You may learn something that can help you improve one or many facets of your career or business.
  3. You’ll be able to pick the brains of experienced professionals in your field. This is especially helpful for entrepreneurs who are just starting out and could benefit from the perspective of a seasoned veteran or two.
  4. Networking events tend to be more relaxed and discussion-oriented. Instead of having someone speak at you, you’ll have many people speaking with you.
  5. You’ll be given the opportunity to collect business cards from your peers and distribute many of your own, drumming up business and building your database of valuable contacts in the process.
  6. You’ll be able to engage in a dialogue with others who are interested in the same topic(s) as you are…not to mention just as eager to learn and grow!
  7. Professionals often leave networking events with a renewed energy, determined to succeed at their latest personal or business-related task .
  8. Planned events usually have a fun social aspect, so you’ll be able to mix work with a bit of leisure time.

If your idea of networking involves creating a Linkedin profile, it’s probably time to branch out. Make an effort to research networking events planned for professionals in your field (or related fields), whether in your local area or out of town. The rewards could be endless.
